Day 8 - St Leonard to Kedgwick

We had breakfast at Tim Hortons up the road from the hotel, after Marge had taken some photos of a mural of a local artist, Clement Bourdin. Then it was serious rolling country for the next 82 km.

The good news: blue skies, strong tail wind and generally a good road with light traffic. We made such good time that we decided to add 20km to go to the next village and reduce tomorrow's ride.

We stopped off at the Information in St Leonard, and spent a pleasant half hour reviewing the renovated Railway Station. There was an urgent need for fuel, so we had a quick snack at a sport's bar, beside the Rails to Trails to Kedgwick. However, we were advised that the surface was very poor due it being used by 4 wheelers. As the wind was with us, we took the highway 17 and added a couple of hundred meters extra climbing. I think it was a good decision.

In summary, we had an excellent ride, let's hope the weather holds.

The French here is very different and charming, and it seems that everyone has a smile and wishes us well.

Margie's observation of the day: Local artists get their work hung in restaurants, motels and public places. Then there are trees and rocks and rocks and trees and water for miles and miles.
