Day 36 - Princeton to Keremeos

Today is a designated rest day according to the plan, but we have decided that as the ride to Keremeos is all downhill we will do it today. We have tomorrow as a short day too, as it will be just 46km to Osoyoos.

Special breakfast today, first time this holiday, eggs, bacon, mushrooms and toast cooked by my own oily hands. I checked the bottom bracket for tightness yesterday and had to remove the front chain, I did use hand sterilizer though.

Perfect day, fair wind and nicely cool as we meandered downhill along the Similkameen River valley. We were making good speed and it was not long before we picked up a guy from Trois Riviere who was riding for 42 days from Hope to home with his wife in a camper behind. He had chosen a very similar route to us through the Prairies. We chatted happily and the miles sped by and soon enough we were half way and time for coffee.

We left our friend and stopped at a diner in Hedley before finishing off the remaining miles. We arrived just as the Visitor Information was closing, but the very charming, and cute, young lady offered to open up and assist us. We found out that we had to retrace our wheels for a couple of kilometers to the Eagle Campsite where we were welcomed by Dorrie and Steve. Suddenly we came over tired and hungry, so ate half a 12 inch Pizza and a couple of apples, put up the tent and made a cuppa tea. It was thus that we blew the afternoon sitting in the sun reading and enjoying the situation.

It is 16:00h as I write and 2 Quebec lads have come home from picking cherries, I wonder how long it will be before Marge can’t resist the temptation to go talk to them.

PS For Marge...The williams final today was an OK match but after Serena won the 1st set in a tie-break venus just couldn't get it together and went down 6-2
Tomorrow Roddick vs Federer should be a great game, especially if Roddick plays as he did against Murray.
