Day 5 - Riviere du Loup - Rest Day

Stayed in bed till 8:30 then came down to waffles, brown toast and lots of coffee. We plan to do next to nothing today, but the sun is shining and beckons us to take a walk round town and shop for groceries.

Thus completed, the intrepid threesome of Marge, Tim and Dot, went up to see the Hydro project while Ron snoozed. Ron bought some woolen socks and tried to get some waterproof gloves, but apparently there is no call for such a thing so will go to a hardware store and buy washing-up gloves (Tip from Nathalie a biker of some renown herself).

Supper is a stir fry and blueberry tart.

Thanks to Andrew for editing the blog and cleaning up my incompetencies.

Thanks for the comments keep them coming, we love to read them.

  1. We're enjoying your news and will continue to check in daily. Hi to Tim and Dot,(their house was missing them when we called and spoke to the mail box yesterday).

  2. Three cheers for blueberry tart! It strikes me as odd that there aren't any waterproof gloves... maybe that's a cue to start a business.

  3. Hi Ron and Marge,
I sent a comment just a few minutes ago but, I am not certain if I was successful.
Ron, you should be able to find waterproof gloves (neoprene) in any fishing supplies store. I have such gloves for kayaking when it is cold. Bought them at the fishing supplies department at WalMart.
I am glad that everything is fine and that so far everything went according to your plans.
Please say hallo to Eddy and Joan for me when you get N.S.
Be careful and keep on biking.

  4. We tried out the Natonal library in Montreal on Friday, a must see resource for old films, and followed that with an interesting visit to the Norman Bethune exhibition at the McCord Muzeum. I Met a retired electrical engineer from the north shore who was spending his time on cultural exchanges to such places as Cuba and Honduras living with the locals. Also tasted an old quebec version of blueberry pie, pudding chaumeur topped with oddles of those wild quebec blueberries. Yummy. We could fedex waterproof gloves ahead if you like. Let me know. We are off to Quebec city for a few days will try out an intrenet cafe there to stay in touch. Davey

  6. Hi you guys, If the weather with you was anything like ours on Sunday your timing for a rest day was perfect. The weatherman says temperatures will improve through out the week to reach near seasonal norms by the weekend. So we should be o.k. for our own little biking excursion (I'm doing the tour de l'ile with Andrew).
I've just checked the Environment Canada weather for Northern NB and they have promised a week of sunshine more or less, (high teens low 20's) so you should be able to dry your kit out. Have fun.
